The team at Kings’ School Al Barsha includes Primary, Secondary and specialist teachers, the Leadership Team and support staff. It is a dynamic and happy group of highly skilled people, striving to do ‘The Best By Every Child’ every day as well as support our families.

    REBECCA GRAY Director of Education & Principal

    Rebecca graduated with a degree in Psychology in 2002, and went on to complete her PGCE at the University of North London. She began her teaching career in the London borough of Tower Hamlets, where she gained her first senior leadership post, and progressed to further senior leadership responsibilities in Peterborough.

    Rebecca became Deputy Headteacher at a school in Huntingdon, during which time she also completed her National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH). Rebecca has since been the Headteacher of a primary school in Northamptonshire, founding Principal of a preparatory school, and an Improvement Cluster Lead for the David Ross Education Trust where she led on whole-school improvement for seven of the Trust's primary schools.

    Rebecca joined Kings’ School Al Barsha as Primary Headteacher in September 2016 before progressing to Principal. Rebecca is also now the Director of Education for the Kings'Education group.

    Lisa Passante Vice Principal

    Lisa’s teaching career spans over 20 years with experience gained both from the UK and internationally. Whilst in the UK, Lisa worked closely with the Local Education Authority as a Team Teach Tutor, training hundreds of teachers, administrators and support staff to develop teaching and learning strategies that improved pupil outcomes. In 2006, Lisa relocated to China where she undertook senior leadership roles, including Head of Primary and Principal. Working in highly competitive education markets in both Shanghai and Beijing, Lisa took a particular interest in educational marketing, which formed the basis of her thesis when completing her Masters in Educational Leadership in 2014. Lisa has been a Lead Improvement Partner with the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), supporting British international schools worldwide in achieving the COBIS Compliance and Patron’s Accreditation. She is passionate about ensuring all students have access to outstanding education and is immensely proud of the fact that she can support schools in their improvement journey to achieve this. Lisa’s educational philosophy is based around the notion that there are no limits to what each and every child can achieve, and as a school leader, sees it very much her role to facilitate these opportunities, enabling all learners to realise their dreams, no matter what they are.

    Paul Taylor Secondary Headteacher

    Paul has extensive school leadership experience, in a range of sectors, spanning eleven years across three very different schools. Prior to joining Kings’, Paul was the Principal of a UK-based private, all-through, co-educational day and boarding school which dates back to 1753. In this role, Paul gained a wealth of knowledge across both the Primary and Early Years, as well as Secondary, giving him a great appreciation of the educational journey of a child from age three to eighteen.” 

    Whilst Paul has a proven track record for achieving record results at both GCSE and A-Level within his schools, he is a passionate believer in the development of the whole child, with a clear educational philosophy that emphasises individual growth in an all-round sense.

    Paul is a hands-on leader who enjoys spending time in the classroom with pupils, hearing firsthand how they are progressing. Valuing his broader responsibility, he ensures that all pupils have the academic, extra-curricular and pastoral systems that will allow them to develop the intellectual and personality traits to succeed in the exciting but challenging world of today.

    Rebecca Tennant Deputy Headteacher

    Rebecca is a highly regarded member of the leadership team who joined Kings’ School Al Barsha in 2015. She began her teaching career in the North East of England after graduating from Northumbria University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught children in Early Years as part of a team setting up a new Early Years unit in Durham. She then moved to Key Stage One, before taking on a leadership role in an inner-city school. 

    Rebecca enjoyed the challenge of leading the Foundation Stage at Kings' School Al Barsha for five years before being promoted to Deputy Headteacher for Primary. In this role, Rebecca continues to lead the Early Years whilst also working closely with the Arabic team and fulfilling the position of Designated Safeguarding Lead. Rebecca is incredibly proud of being part of the Kings' journey and is excited to continue developing the school's excellent practice.

    Stephanie Johnson Assistant Headteacher FS

    Stephanie graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2005 with a BA (Hons) in Education. She began her teaching career as a Primary Teacher in the Inverclyde region of Scotland. After three years she moved into a role in Early Years education, supporting children with Special Educational Needs. Stephanie led a team of teachers, providing specialist support to all Early Years education settings within the Midlothian region. During this time Stephanie realised her passion for Early Years education and this is where she has dedicated the past 12 years of her career.

    Stephanie has worked as part of our outstanding and innovative Foundation Stage team since September 2016 as both an FS1 teacher and Year Leader before being promoted to Assistant Headteacher.

    Hannah Fleetwood Assistant Headteacher YR1&2

    Hannah graduated from the University of Brighton with a degree in Primary Education, specialising in English, and began her teaching career in West Sussex. She joined the Kings’ family in 2013 and was part of the founding team at Kings’ Nad Al Sheba, where she gained a wealth of experience leading teams across Key Stage Two.

    In 2015, Hannah moved to Kings’ School Dubai, where she enjoyed developing her experience as Year Leader in both Year 2 and Year 6, and leading on the introduction of Seesaw across the primary school. Hannah’s teaching ethos is based around guiding children to become independent, resilient and creative learners who are happy to take risks and confident to take on a challenge.

    Hannah joins Kings’ School Al Barsha as Assistant Headteacher for Years 1 and 2, with additional responsibility for Science and Enterprise.

    Charlotte Coade Assistant Headteacher YR3&4

    Charlotte graduated from Northampton University before starting her teaching career at a small village school in Northampton where she was a Year 6 teacher for five years. She led ICT across the school and became the first Microsoft Innovative Expert Educator who led to the school being recognised as a Microsoft Showcase School. As part of this, she held workshops across the county and became a guest speaker at the London BETT show.

    Charlotte joined Kings’ School Al Barsha in 2016 before being promoted to Year Leader in her second year. Since then she has taught across Years 6, 5 and 3 with a passion for ensuring learning is accessed by all whilst setting high expectations to ensure quality outcomes. She has a particular interest in English and promoting regular reading.

    Rebecca Clarkson Assistant Headteacher YR5&6

    Rebecca began her teaching career in Surrey, after graduating with a BA (Hons) Degree in Primary Education. After gaining experience teaching across Key Stage 2, Rebecca went on to become Head of Year for both Years 5 and 6 where she developed her leadership skills.

    Rebecca joined Kings’ School Al Barsha in 2017 and spent her first two years working in Year 6 before being promoted to the role of Year Leader, where she thoroughly enjoyed leading our young learners as they transitioned to secondary school.

    Rebecca prides herself on providing learning opportunities to develop independent, lifelong learners.

    Charlotte Davis Assistant Headteacher

    After graduating from the University of Derby with a Bachelor of Education, Charlotte began her teaching career in Burton upon Trent teaching across Key Stage 1 and 2 whilst leading a creative Humanities curriculum.

    Charlotte joined Kings’ School Dubai in 2019; it was here that she progressed to Year 3 leader, Maths leader, and Acting Assistant Headteacher. Committed to the professional development of colleagues, Charlotte has been responsible for embedding whole-school initiatives to further improve the progress and attainment of all students. In her role as Maths leader, Charlotte supported the development of outstanding, enriching Maths provision for all learners from Foundation Stage to Year 6, driven by the ethos that all learners can achieve above and beyond.

    Charlotte is an enthusiastic and dedicated leader who is passionate about developing the whole child and is excited to continue to develop the KSAB curriculum that nurtures collaboration, responsibility, reflection, and leadership alongside academic excellence. At Kings’ School Al Barsha, Charlotte is delighted to continue to work alongside inspiring practitioners to develop, engage and challenge learners and leaders of the future.

    Suzanne Stratton Head of Primary Inclusion

    Suzanne originates from Devon in the UK and graduated with BA (Hons) in Education. She has been teaching for over 25 years in the UK, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. In 2009, Suzanne joined the Kings’ family as a class teacher before progressing to Year Leader and then Assistant Headteacher at Kings’ School Dubai. More recently, Suzanne moved to the LInK Department and has ensured rigour in planning to meet expectations, provide high quality learning opportunities, and advance learners towards new challenges.

    Suzanne is excellent at working with children who have a variety of needs, including; dyslexia, behavioural issues, and autism. She strongly believes all individuals, regardless of challenges they face, can be successful both academically and socially. She has developed a skills-based curriculum to overcome barriers, promoting a ‘can do’ approach to learning and creating a positive environment that increases self-confidence and well-being.

    Suzanne manages a highly skilled and professional team who tailor support to individual needs, helping children reach goals in a happy, safe and nurturing environment. Her high expectations and proactive approach helps ensure standards are maintained and exceeded, so that children can celebrate their identity and their personal achievements.

    Louise Rolf Deputy Headteacher (Pastoral)

    Louise graduated with a degree in History from the University of Sheffield in 2003 and headed back to her hometown of Liverpool to complete her teacher training, gaining Qualified Teacher Status in 2004. From there, Louise worked in a large successful school in North West London as both a teacher and, later, Head of Department.

    In 2008, Louise decided to make the move to international teaching where she worked at another KHDA Outstanding school as Head of Sixth Form and, later, Assistant Headteacher. 

    Louise joined Kings’ School Al Barsha in 2018 with an excellent reputation as a highly child-centred leader, with a track record of leading positive and productive change.

    Premvati Patel Deputy Headteacher (Academic)

    Prem is a highly talented and versatile member of the Kings’ community who has been with us since 2016. Prior to her 13 years of leadership experience within teaching, Prem held a successful career within the media having worked as an Assistant Producer at the BBC for a number of years subsequent to her achieving an Honours degree in Broadcast Journalism. After completing her PGCE in Secondary Education, she embarked on her first teaching post with a leading school in Buckinghamshire, eventually moving onto a leadership position at a school in North West London helping it to become one of the top 2% achieving state schools in England. Her wealth of experience, in addition to working in production, includes multiple leadership responsibilities, including Head of English, Head of Drama as well as Senior Leader for Teaching and Learning.

    Robyn Adams Assistant Headteacher YR7,8,9

    Robyn graduated with a degree in History and a PGCE in higher education in her hometown of Liverpool. Robyn went on to secure her first teaching job in Liverpool and, within a year, took on leadership for Teaching and Learning. Robyn joined Kings’ School Al Barsha in 2016 as a History teacher and has since held several leadership roles, including Head of Year 7, Lead Practioner, and Head of the very successful History department.

    Robyn prides herself on leading students to reach the height of academic success and empowering staff to develop practices that consider the whole child. robyn’s philosophy to education is to ensure that each student has the opportunity to fulfil and, more importantly, exceed their potential whilst also developing a lasting passion for learning and discovery.'

    Holly Brown Assistant Headteacher YR10&11

    Holly graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BSc Biology in 2009, followed by a PGCE with Masters in Education in 2012. She began her teaching career in a large Outstanding secondary school in Derbyshire, and was quickly promoted to lead Teaching and Learning across the school, in addition to the training of student and newly qualified teachers. Holly moved to Dubai to join the Kings' family in 2016 as teacher of Science, and has enjoyed numerous leadership roles including Second in Science, and Head of Year 11-13 before moving into the Senior Leadership team to lead Key Stage 4. Holly is an innovative and dynamic leader whose strengths lie in supporting students to make key decisions regarding their futures, whilst ensuring that opportunities are provided for all children to thrive and succeed both academically and pastorally. Holly is passionate that all students in her care develop into resilient, confident and effective lifelong learners.

    Natasha Ringshaw Assistant Headteacher YR12&13

    Natasha brings to Kings' a wide variety of leadership experience, having led highly successful English departments internationally, both here in Dubai and Mexico.

    Her IB Diploma experience will be highly valuable in our next steps as we seek to broaden our offerings at post-16 level, and her highly academic background and approach will ensure that our students in Key Stage 4 are well prepared for GCSEs and post-16 education.

    Bronwyne Van Zyl Head of Secondary Inclusion

    With 21 years of international experience at senior level in the field of Inclusion, Bronwyne’s professional career, spanning four countries and many diverse cultures, has focused on empowering children with learning differences.

    Bronwyne joined KSAB in 2015 as Lead Dyslexia Intervention Specialist, and now Secondary SENCO. She completed her Masters in Education SEND from Middlesex University and is registered with the British Psychological Society and the Joint Council of Qualifications (JCQ). Bronwyne has been invited on numerous occasions as a guest speaker across the Middle East and is passionate about inclusion and ensuring all students have equal opportunities to succeed.

    Iain Stewart Head of Student Achievement

    Iain is an inspirational and highly regarded leader and has been one of Kings’ long-standing staff members since 2013. He gained his teaching degree from Exeter University in the UK and holds every student at the centre of his educational approaches. He started at Kings’ Dubai and then moved to set up the outstanding PE Department that we have today at Kings’ School Al Barsha. Iain is an experienced KS3/4 and Sixth Form Year Leader and guided the first KS5 cohort through their A-Levels towards their aspirational goals of higher education.

    Iain is now concentrating on his new role as Head of Student Achievement in the secondary senior management team to empower and guide all students’ at Kings’ to be the best that they can be. His enthusiasm for PE continues as he delivers PE to the lower school students.

    Tabu Saul Head of Futures

    Tabu graduated in Biology from University College London, followed by a PGCE from Homerton College, Cambridge. 

    After beginning her career at a North London school, Tabu branched out to gain some experience in industry, working in the procurement and global marketing teams for Mars. In 2003, shortly after returning to teaching, Tabu moved to Dubai. She has previously worked in two schools in Dubai, including an Outstanding KHDA rated school where she took her year group through from Year 9 to Year 13, before becoming Head of Sixth Form. At Kings', Tabu undertakes careers counselling, which has seen our A-Level graduates placed at prestigious universities globally.

    Olivia Sanders Senior Lead, Professional Development
    Olivia began her teaching career in Hampshire after completing a degree in English and Communication. She has been committed to the academic and pastoral success of students at Kings' School Al Barsha for over five years, undertaking the role of Year Leader across Key Stages 3 and 4, before joining the Senior Leadership Team in September 2022 with a focus on supporting the professional development of staff. Olivia is a Specialist Leader in Education, passionate about promoting oracy and literacy and creating opportunities for critical thinking in our students.
